Hall Creek Cabin - Visitor Comments

Jon, Noreen, and Jessee - Honalulu, HI
Thanks for sharing your home with us. Everything was just fine and a wonderfully comfortable haven to return to after each day's hike. Such peace and beauty are truly gifts from God. We "finally" had an elk sighting last night around 8:45. Five scampered from the meadow to the side of the big house. That was fun to see. But the big surprise was a visit from a cinnamon (black) bear a few days ago. He helped himself to the bird feeder before Jon scared him away. The neighbor two houses away seemed calm, saying the wildlife people know about this bear. WOW!
Take care and thanks again! Jon, Noreen, and Jessee 06/29-07/07/08

Thanks so much for letting us stay in this beautiful home in the woods. It was the perfect get-away for our anniversary (by the way, we especially like the scripture pieces in the living room . . . Amen!). We love to hike, so we've just found a new favorite spot where we can come and do that! Maybe we'll bring the kids next time . . . or maybe we won't! :o)
Thanks again, Cic & Monika - 06/29/08

What do you do on a rainy day? Watch Waterfalls! The Cispus Learning Center maintains trails in a beautiful forest with lovely cascading streams and two bursting waterfalls. One comes down an overhanging cliff and the trail goes behind the waterfall! Be sure to bring a waterproof camera and a tripod to cature this unusual perspective. The other one is 300 ft. high and and looks like a pony tail. The very well maintained trail to Packwood Lake winds almost level through old growth and 2nd growth forest and is a pleasure to walk. At this time of the year, there was still snow in some places, up to 3 ft. deep buy easy to walk on. We also had a great day at Mt. Rainier. The road to Paradise is open and snow free, but with snowdrifts up to 16 ft. high are awesome. The rangers had marked Nisqually trail with little poles so that we could do the little loop on some 5-10 ft. of snow. Apart from enjoying the hikes, our other favorie "sport" out here was counting elk. Packwood must be a great place in their eyes. Downtown Packwood, those green lawns, seem to be their number one breakfast bar and dinner buffet. Just today, I counted 2 dozen. The cabin is a perfect place to stay. We enjoyed very much being here, and we hope to come back one day. Thank you for your kind hospitality.

We got in late Fri. night, but we still had a warm welcome by the sweet kitty! What a wonderful, comfortable place! The mountains, the stream right behind the cabin, the views, fantastic! Mt. Rainier was closed, but we had a nice drive, the town with museum, shops, the 2 elk in town, and a couple dozen more crossing the road or side of the road. The viewpoints were awesome! We will definitely be back, probably with more family during the summer. For our 1 year anniversay, we couldn't have picked a more relaxing, romantic place.
Thank you so very much, Catherine & Mike - 05/11/08

Thanks so much, Fred and Marilly, for sharing your homey cabin with us! What fun to see the new house almost completed and share your excitement. May all who come here be blessed! What's the record for distance travelled? We must be near the top.
We'll be back again, Rick & Liz - 02/29/08

The time spent here was delightful! This was our second time here and another great time as a family. On our last day we were fortunate and blessed to see a moose/elk outside the kitchen window! Wow - what an awesome threat - God is so good.
Many blessings, the Hopkins 02/20/2008

August - Beaverton, OR
I was looking for a mountain getaway for my husband and began looking for cabins around the Mt. St. Helens area. I looked at a map and began looking for accommodations in the cities around the mountain. We are so excited to be traveling and staying in that area. Also due to finding a link from your site to the Railway site. We will be taking the kids on the Snowball Train to see Santa. Thank you for that additional bit of information.
Thank you. August - 12/07

Cindy - Sumner, WA
Thank you so much for letting us rent your cabin! I would like to rent it again next Labor Day. We saw elk Friday night and on Sunday morning Jason and little Ava saw a family of elk. You are very blessed what a great view!! Let me know what you need from me to secure this for next Labor Day.
Thank you again, Cindy

Inge, John, & Mason - Los Gatos, CA
We spent 2 days at Rainier National Park. The Trail of the Shadows and Nisqually Vista walks were particularly nice. We spent one day at Mt. St. Helens driving to the end of 99. We enjoyed the 2.8 mile hike from Harmony Viewpoint to Spirit Lake. We avoided the crowds and tour buses by going to this side of the mountain and got a fabulous view of the natural wonder and staggering effects of the blast. Our other day we spent here was at the Lewis River hiking from Lower Falls to Upper Falls. It is a magical place and well worth the 1.5 hour drive. Unfortunately, the road to Mt. Adams area was out because of storms last fall. We were very comfortable in the cabin. It has a nice floor plan and was perfect for our family. An outdoor area with table and chairs would make it perfect. [Owner Comment: 7-24-07 additional lawn chairs and a table were added]
Thanks, Inge, John, & Mason - 07/5-10/07

Our family enjoyed a blessed vacation. It was peaceful and relaxing! The scenery was beautiful. We were even blessed to see deer eating as well as elk alongside of the road. Thanks for allowing us to share in your cabin and see God's handiwork.
Thanks, The H__ family 02/07

What a perfect little spot. We had a blast on our winter ski trip, right up the road. We were blessed with new snow Monday and Tuesday, that made it just right. Enough room to sleep everyone and a washer and dryer to keep it all neat and dry for the next day. I can't think of a single thing we needed to bring other than a great attitude--you have it all! Thank you for a wonderful time--hands down better than any "lodge" could have offered.

Ken - Yakama, WA
We loved your place. As far as relaxed and rejuvinated, that wasn't in the cards due to my patrol work schedule. Both Sunday and Monday I was on the Hill by 7:30 am. Traci and Delaney on the otherhand, I think left very rejuvinated as they were able to straggle up to the pass when they decided it was time. Our daughters highlight was looking out her window and seeing a deer walking down the driveway. I think your whole rental process is very well designed. Wouldn't really change a thing. We'll be back. Delaney is already asking when we can do it again. Your housekeeper did a great job. The cabin was very clean and I thought very well equipped. All in all we really had a great time.
Thanks again Ken. 12-06

Tami - Portland, OR
We had a wonderful time. The area is awesomly beautiful-God must be an artist. Saturday was warm and clear. The mountain was wonderful to visit-so majestic. We hiked a couple of trails and saw the Grove of the Patriarchs. It was all together lovely. We will be back.
God Bless! Tami 10-06

Mike - Westport, WA
Our stay was very nice. Everything was as expected. I found your link on the Destination Packwood website. I think for someone who is new to this you are doing a good job. The rental process using Paypal made everything really easy and fast. The cabin is nice and the furnishings are very adequate. I honestly can't think of anything that is needed.
Thanks, Mike 10-06
